Call for Protest Poster Artwork
Many of us are feeling it: exhaustion, overwhelm, anxiety, and the sense that our attention is no longer our own.
The systems behind our devices are designed to capture and hold our attention—not because it's good for us, but because our attention has become a commodity.
We're inviting artists, students, designers, illustrators, and creative thinkers to create bold, beautiful protest posters that expose the forces competing for our attention, challenge the systems extracting it, and imagine a healthier, more human future.
Your work might respond to themes including:
The attention economy
AI and automated systems
Social media addiction
Predatory game design
Surveillance capitalism and data extraction
Data centers and digital infrastructure
Mental health, overstimulation, isolation, and cognitive overload
But don't stop at critique.
We want posters that imagine what we're fighting for.
Possible ideas for poster messages:
Off the Screen. Into the Green
Eyes Up, Be Present
Unfriend Your Phone.
Disconnect to Reconnect.
Reclaim Your Time
We believe another digital future is possible.
This is an invitation to imagine, provoke, and organize. Create artwork that interrupts the scroll—images people want to wheatpaste on walls, carry through the streets, hang in windows, and share as symbols of a growing movement.
Every movement begins with people imagining that another world is possible.

We plan to apply to exhibit a selection of the posters at the Hosmer Gallery at Forbes Library in Northampton, MA in Fall 2027. We're also pursuing arts funding to print a series of the posters and install them throughout the Pioneer Valley as a public art intervention.
An important part of this project is making the artwork freely available for download so that anyone, anywhere, can print the posters and display them in their own community. We hope this project sparks conversation, inspires collective action, and reminds us that we're all navigating these challenges together.
